Part 1 of our MN trip begins at Dustin & Karen's house.  We arrived in MN and took the tram to the Mall of America and met Aunt Jenny for lunch, walked around for a bit, then Dustin and Karen came to pick us up.  We spent Tuesday through the following Tuesday with them.

Our adventures include:
1) Celebrating Dustin's b-day at Coldstone Creamery
2) Touring Target Field
3) Walking around the sculpture garden
4) Making a bonfire, chalking on the driveway, and roasting marshmellows
5) Venturing to Stillwater, MN for antique stores and art galleries
6) Taking a trip to Iowa to visit family and celebrate Joel's graduation
7) Buying dishware at the Corelle outlet store in Albertville
8) Watching the Twins game on the big screen TV in the basement

We had a great time at Dustin and Karen's and we thank them for their hospitality and great company!!

Drumroll Please....

Jonathan passed all of his classes so he is able to graduate tomorrow!!
I arrived to College Station tonight to find him pacing the floor, wanting to know his grades.  He was worried that for some strange reason a teacher would fail him and he wouldn't be allowed to graduate.  A friend called him a couple hours later and said that he saw his grades were posted.  Jonathan went to the computer to check his grades.  After a few deep breaths and some convincing, he check and he passed!!  He literally jumped out of his seat and nearly tackled me into a hug!!
I am very proud of him and all that he has accomplished!
I can't wait for him to begin his new job and to start the next chapter of his life!

Like A Good Neighbor...

State Farm is there.....with renter's insurance!!

Today was my mission to complete getting all the odds and ends tied up with the apartment before heading to Minnesota on vacation.  Jonathan and I got our renter's insurance through State Farm down in Conroe.  They deal with the majority of Heritage @ Hooper Hill clients; they also were the ones to give us a good bang for our buck.  We also got our cable set up through Suddenlink.  I asked for the most basic of basic TV packages expecting to get just local channels and a couple specialty, but for heaven sakes....there is a metropolis of channels for basic now a days!!

Our apartment is now officially set up, now just to move in....24 days to go!!

Cars....

Jonathan and I have been living in our cars basically for the last 2 weeks.  I have drove back and forth to Conroe 2 times, drove around Conroe/The Woodlands apartment shopping, plus driving to College Station this weekend for Jonathan's graduation, plus going home to The Colony on Saturday.

Jonathan drove to Huntsville this weekend for my concert and to go apartment shopping.  He also was just informed that he has to meet with Kelly Services, the temporary agency that is hiring him through Weatherford, on Thursday in Houston for a qualification and experience interview and paperwork junk.  Then he will have to drive back and drive home to Keller on Saturday.

Now both of our cars need some TLC....and a bath!!

I Thought Money Grew On Trees

The good news = Jonathan and I have excellent credit!!
The bad news = Jonathan and I have NO rental history!!

Well, it's not that bad of news.  We went down to the apartment complex that we are leasing from and paid our $99 move-in fee.  Once we got home, they informed us that they ran our information and since none of us have rental history we either have to pay a refundable $300 deposit or get a co-signer.

I called Mommy and asked her about the pros and cons of each option, but I still had questions.  So, I called the apartment lady back and asked her my questions about each option.  She informed us that if we paid the $300 deposit we would get it back when we move out and we could pay it when we sign our lease on move-in day, June 4th.

So if anybody would like to donate....NO, I'm just kidding!!  This option gives us more time to save up our mullah and pay it later.  Bad situation turned good!!

Also with talking to the apartment lady she found out that I was a student (for the next 2.5 years) and we got a 4% discount on the rent!!  ALL RIGHT!!  I knew there were perks for being a student!!  We will have a savings of $32 every month!!  That's $32 we could buy groceries with...who knew??

Now we are in the process of setting up our cable and getting rental insurance.  We already set up our electricity with Entergy, the company the apartment uses.

New mailing address cards & e-mails to be sent out soon!!

New Jobs & New Home

If you haven't already read, Jonathan received a job offer from a company called Weatherford Laboratories.  This place is located on the north side of The Woodlands, right near I-45 and SH 242.  He got a call from this place on Monday about an interview.  He interviewed on Thursday and received his offer call on Friday around noon-time.  He is going to be hired through Kelly Services for a trial period of 3 months.  He will then be evaluated again and fully hired through the actual company, hopefully.  He could still use the good luck prayers until his 3 month evaluation period is over, then he will REALLY have a job.  He was originally offered $45,000 for his position, but then got a phone call that says they raised it to $48,500.  Not too bad, and he hasn't even started yet!!  He will hopefully start after we get back from vacation to Minnesota, around June 5th-6th.

I have recently got accepted to School of Music Graduate School at SHSU.  I am still waiting on my official acceptance from the university because I don't have my GRE scores....that's a blog post waiting to happen in the future!!  I take the GRE in August and hope to receive my scores by November in order to meet the December deadline.  With this opportunity, I also got accepted to the Graduate Assistantship program, or in my words "fully-funded school!"  This program pays around $8,000 a semester in order to cover my fee statement (which includes tuition, fees, other nickel and dime items, parking sticker, etc.)  This should cover everything on that statement with a little bit leftover as a refund.  I'm not sure of the exact amount yet.

I also recently took over an existing position as a church choir director at Faith Lutheran Church in Huntsville.  I will be directing the church choir there and maybe some other things.  I'm not totally sure on some of the specifics of the job.  It pays around $500 a month, not bad for a Wednesday and Sunday job.

Jonathan came to visit me this weekend because I had my last choir concert of the year.  On Saturday before the concert we did some apartment paroozing in Conroe.  We figured that Conroe would be a good half-way point between work and school.  We toured 4 different apartment complexes and decided on one, The Heritage at Hooper Hill.  This was the apartment complex Jill & Josh lived in when Jill first got her job at McKesson.  We applied online for a 1 Bedroom/1 Bathroom layout plan.  It was the best deal that we got for the amount of space and gated location.

This was the only 1 Bed/1 Bath layout they had available.  It is the biggest of the 3 plans with 764 square feet of space.  It includes a bedroom with 2 closets (I told Jonathan I get the bigger one!), spacious bathroom with a garden-style tub, kitchen with LOTS of counter space, and plenty of living room and dining room area for furniture.  We will most likely get a 2nd floor apartment that is right next to the clubhouse.  We will have to pay a fee every month for the washer and dryers to rent, but it will save on quarters and lugging laundry.

We are really happy with the new changes that are coming and are excited with what will come in the future.
